Everyone loves daredevils. With their approach to things, there is nothing what cannot be admired.
Fearless, bravery and commitment to things they are passionate about, and things, that some of us would never ever tried are just a few features, that every daredevil has.
Nik Wallenda is one of them. On November 2nd, 2014 he completely amazed Chicago with a blindfolded tightrope walk. This goose bumps giving stunt was performed on one high wire without any safety nets or any harness.
Marina City towers were for a couple of minutes packed with people, who wanted to witness it. Because people wanted more, Nik Wallenda gave it to them. This 35 years old heir to the Wallendas family business, completed back-to-back walks, which one of them was blindfolded.
Before he started to walk on ropes, he tested the tension of the wire. All started at 6 p.m. and it took him about 6 and a half minutes to walk on the wire from the Marina City west tower to the top of the building on the other side of a river. Discovery Channel was the one who was broadcasting it. If you saw it on TV, when it was happening, it might seemed like it is live. To some extend it was live, but with 10 second delay, in case that something would happen to Nik. We don’t have to say that nothing happened. After his successful attempt, he tore off his blindfold and waved to the crowd of thousands people below, who were cheering and supporting him all the way through.
For most of the preparations, Nik was using helicopters to lift cables to the rooftops. There were also many restrictions, that had to be done, in order for the environment to be as good as possible. Permissions for road closures had to be granted, many different clearances from the Federal Aviation Administration and U.S. Coast Guard. Residents of the area were asked not to use laser points, flashes on cameras or anything that could interfere. Even having barbecue was prohibited.
